Our new website is now live! I founded Raw Hex in 2014 as a personal blog to teach security testing. A lot has happened since then. The funny thing about having an educational blog while running a consulting practice is that it's impossible to build a routine for building decent content.
I always wanted to commit more time to Raw Hex, but never had the opportunity until last year. So instead of working on the blog, I asked Marizel and Aidan to join me on a ludicrous journey to build something amazing. Something wonderful. And I gave it the most ridiculous name you could possibly imagine.
Today our shop is open and you can buy our first product, the HIDIOT. But what does this mean for the personal blog I set up 3 years ago?
My original goal for Raw Hex was to build a place to teach people low level technology, and build a decent career. That goal hasn't changed. What has changed is that with Aidan and Marizel on-board we're now able to build products that teach technology on your terms, without hidden magic or secret sauce. We want to help you go deeper, tell the world about it and build the career of your dreams. To do this, we're building products that:
- Are fun to use
- Are as open as possible
- Will teach you something new
- Generate enough income to make more cool stuff
The HIDIOT is our first product, an electronics platform designed to teach hardware hacking from the ground up. It's a genuine labour of love for us.
We have more ideas to bring into the open. Some are products, some are just ways of giving back to the information security and wider tech community.
We're also going to keep posting deep dive security blog posts, and we're currently using the HIDIOT as an excuse to test out live streaming and tutorial videos that we'll use for all manner of cool projects over the coming months, so don't forget to subscribe to our YouTube channel.
The road ahead is long. So make sure you bring snacks.
